If you had a totally embarrassing first name, would you go by your current middle name (assuming you have at least one?)

I'm actually contemplating using my middle name (Emily) instead of my first name (Laura). I'm still debating which I'd rather use, I'm leaning more towards Emily but seems like Laura wasn't so unpopular as I thought.
